Surface Inspection announces Flawmaster 5G
November 2007

With over 540 systems operating around the world, Surface Inspection is the undisputed leader of automatic inspection systems for the ceramic tile industry. The company has continuously invested in research and development since it was founded 20 years ago. This enables Surface Inspection to offer products with improved performance that allow increasingly complex tiles to be correctly inspected and classified.

Flawmaster 5G is the latest system to be released following intensive development that involved software, hardware and the optical system. These improvements offer a number of important benefits:

  • Higher-performance image processing platform allows the optimum use of the latest algorithms, providing the ability identify even more defects and to inspect even dark or complex tiles at speeds up to 750m²/hour
  • Simplified user interface enables even easier interaction with the system
  • Improved lighting provides faster image acquisition with improved image quality resulting in better identification of defects. The new lighting system will substantially reduce consumable costs due to its life span, 15 times that of the Flawmaster 4G lighting system.
  • New tile thickness adjustment allows immediate setup in the case of a product change where the tile is of a different thickness. It can accommodate a range of tile thicknesses up to 20 mm.

The Flawmaster 5G will automatically grade the broadest range of tiles for shade, mechanical and decoration defects. Its quality decision outputs are sent to either a tile marking device or directly to a selection machine to provide complete automation of the inspection and selection process.

To mark the advances in technology, the Flawmaster 5G has a new visual appearance, as indicated in the picture.
